On first listen, I wasn't 100% blown away by the vocal style on this song. Something made me come back for a second, then third, then fourth listen. And now here I am, writing a blog post about this song.
Oh... another thing that helped sway my decision: Tōth is one half of Rubblebucket, a band we like quite a lot. So yeah, that definitely piqued my curiosity and convinced me to give the song a deeper listen.
"Song To Make You Fall In Love With Me" had me slightly skeptical in its opening. There's something a little bit hard to digest about Alex's pronunciation. As the song progresses though, it grows on me - to the point that it actually captures a wonderful vulnerability and emotion. Which I suppose is one of the goals of writing a good folk-pop song? Shrug.
Hope y'all enjoy it too.
