Are you into classic 70s and 80s dance music with a modern flare? Why yes, you say? Well strap on those dancing shoes, shufflers! Chad Bundick has whipped up another infectiously danceable EP for all of us to lose ourselves to, which drops today, September 13!
Chad's new Freaking Out EP is a shimmery compilation of retro beats, 80s dance synth, and funky beats that you're almost guaranteed to find irresistable. Some songs have lyrics, others pretty much do not... but honestly, the music alone is enough to hit the spot. I even heard a little Earth, Wind & Fire sampling in one of the songs. Ballsy, right?
It's obvious that Toro Y Moi has taken a step forward (or sideways?) from his early days of producing his own music. Nowadays he's been opting for a much more polished yet still psychedelic dance genre that teeters between retro and modern. The funky beats, the sounds of the synths and pianos, and the spacey vocals are what encapsulates a vintage feel but the layering... oh, the layering! Thanks to today's technology, it's endless yet tasteful and never overdone.
Is Toro Y Moi revitalizing a retro genre or combining a few classic ones while adding his own modern flare? You decide for yourself with his Freaking Out EP. Just don't forget the disco ball.
