It’s been a couple of years since we’ve heard from Australian band Tora.
The band spent the last two years writing and composing in various locations around the world after a marathon tour of Australia, Europe and North America. The Byron Bay locals eventually returned to their home town to record, produce and mix their debut album Take A Rest.
Following up their first single “Amsterdam,” “Another Case” is a spacious and well orchestrated track that combines smooth vocals, a heavy sub and some trickling percussion into a stylish and catchy tune.
In the process of recording Take A Rest, the band decided to incorporate sounds they heard in guitarist Jai Piccone's garden, including the buzzing of flies, bamboo creaking in the wind and the “scraping of cactuses with rakes”.
In April the band farewelled founding member Toby Tunis-Plant, with the musician citing the need to “explore other avenues and interests at this stage in his life.” The newly formed four-piece are ready to hit the road and tour their debut record.
Tora will release Take A Rest on Friday 9th June, you can pre-order it here.
