It's been interesting to watch the importance of remixes grow over the past couple of years. It seems that every single release is followed quickly by at least one remix -- some bad, some good, some wonderful. This one falls into the latter category, and I'm sure you'll all agree after giving it a listen.
Tom Day & Monsoonsiren collaborated on a wonderful EP, released just over a month ago via new Melbourne electronic label Zero Through Nine, and we brought you one of the singles off the release -- the gorgeous "Dreams." Now, Berlin-based Australian producer Kyson has taken to one of the other tracks off the EP, "We Watched The Clouds Form Shapes." His version doesn't really become his own until the midway, with only a few icy touches here and there, but from there it builds brilliantly.
The art of the remix is definitely a delicate one. I've mentioned before that what makes a good remix to me is the remixer's ability to add their own touch to a song without completely altering it, and Kyson has done exactly that on here.
