Why do we like this?
Melbourne student Tom Day has done what most people haven't been able to. He's proved that procrastination is sometimes a good thing. Currently completing his chemistry PhD, he's used his "free time" wisely, creating a pretty significant volume of work (which can all be found on his SoundCloud). Teaming up with Monsoonsiren, 19-year-old Nathan Menon from India, he's launched a new project which will see its debut EP released in the coming months.
The first track off brand new label Zero Through Nine, this collaboration's first single, "Dreams," was released to mark this special occasion. Atmospheric and deeply introspective, the arrangement on this song is phenomenal, and when added to Menon's haunting falsetto tones, it's a definite winner. I'm usually pretty forthcoming with compliments, but this is the sort of music which makes you give thanks for ears.
Given this is just the first release, I'm pretty excited to see what else Tom Day, Moonsiren and the rest of the guys at Zero Through Nine have in store.
