Sometimes I search for days and days before I find a song that has that certain something. Sometimes I try to break down what exactly I'm listening for. Always, I reach the same conclusion.
A song must have integrity, it must speak to a strong emotion, and I have to believe it. All the est, genre's and all that, really don't exist... though I do have my favorite sounds.
"Yellow" by Philadelphia based producer tiedye ky comes off his recently released album Color Palettes. Tracks include "Blue," "Green," and of course, "Yellow." "Yellow" happens to be my favorite, color wise too. The beat has balance, a heavy bottom made heavenly by the glistening flute. The middle leaves space for your own interpretation of what the emotion is that you're now feeling after listening to "Yellow." It's breathy, bright, and just enough groove to keep you moving.
