It’s been awhile since we’ve had the pleasure of new music from Melbourne producer Thrupence (aka Jack Vanzet), whose 2012 Voyages LP is one I always return to.
He’s been busy in the meantime, with the talented artist also recently launching a label, called Detail Co., with Chet Faker’s Nick Murphy.
“Don’t You Mind” is the first single from Thrupence’s new album Lessons, which is due out on September 26, and it’s a very welcome return! As far as electronic music goes, this is some of the smoothest you’ll come across, with Vanzet pairing relaxed, ambient beats alongside vocal samples of blues singer Son House. It’s the type of music you just sink in to no matter what your current mood is.
Lessons will be released through the Future Classic label, with Thrupence joining their already stacked roster.
