Why do we like this?

The term 'reinvention' springs to mind with the unveiling of The xx's stunning new single, "Say Something Loving." Beginning with a sample from an Alessi Brothers track from the 1970s, the group's sound has transformed into something both celebratory and hopeful. 

Simultaneously glimmering and unpolished, it's a prime exercise in the trio's ability to blend their respective strengths. The layered twin vocals of Madley Croft and Sim soar, while Smith experiments with an offbeat structure. 

Gearing up for their third album I See You, dropping on January 13, The xx are heading for another acclaimed release under their belt.
