Why do we like this?
I'm not sure how I managed to miss out on the The Wooden Birds for this long. The sweet outfit from Austin includes Broken Social Scene "collaborator" Andrew Kenny, and puts out a brand of stripped-down acoustic guitar-driven music.

I can't get enough of it; it's the kind of music where you can hear the frets on the guitar creak a bit.

"Two Matchsticks" is off their album of the same name, their second full-length release (it came out June 7). Simple harmonies and beautiful imagery ("two matchsticks holding hands") evidences the skill and craft behind the band's songwriting abilities.

I'd keep an eye out for these guys; I'd expect more good, solid folk-esque songs out of them.
