Introducing Falmouth-based Matthew Howes, Ryan Nolan, and Jack Curnow, who make up an indie dream pop group The White Bicycles.
Meeting while studying, Howes and Nolan connected over their shared love of hypnotic indie artists such as Bon Iver, The xx and Arcade Fire, and managed to wow audiences with their track "Courtesy" which was featured in the "Emerging Talent Competition" for Glastonbury's 2013 year. It wasn't long before instrumentalist and fellow student Curnow jumped on the scene and inspired the development of their sound to include instruments like the acoustic percussion and glockenspiel.
In all honestly, for the first listen I wasn't instantly captivated with the thick accent and mellow tones of this track. However, once the percussion took more prominence, I completely changed my mind; perhaps for being too spoiled with other big artist releases I'd recently listened to. The beat picks up, the vocals thicken, and it's a track that deserves your full attention.
"Dust" is available for free download, ahead of their eponymous EP in May.
