About a week ago I didn't feel any intense connection with trap, yet I've written about three tracks incorporating it as of today.
I've decided that what I appreciate is "love trap," Ray Complex's description of his remix of
Coeur de Pirate's cover of The Weeknd's classic. It's trap handled with care, possibly the opposite of its definition and originating culture. It's scintillating snares and hi-hats topped with minimal piano and cherry sweet vocals for the morning after.
If you want something even sweeter, then check out Coeur de Pirate's original cover
here. Or visit Chicago-based dj/producer Ray Complex's
SoundCloud for some grittier sounds while he works on his sophomore EP,
Trap for Breakfast.
