I have to confess to not being a huge fan of The Weeknd. Sure, his soaring falsetto and electronic-infused take on R&B are right up my alley, but I just can't connect with his early work. Fortunately I have a friend obsessed with the Canadian who is trying their best to persuade me otherwise. Which leads me to "Love In The Sky," the latest taste from The Weeknd's highly anticipated sophomore album, Kiss Land, scheduled for a September release.
Abel Tesfaye delivers another hypnotic R&B styled number, his soothing falsetto floating over seductive guitars and dynamic percussion. While it sounds pretty similar to most of his output, I'm actually vibing on this track big time. It's got the right mixture of hazy production combined with The Weeknd's emotional vocals that hits all the right spots.
While I won't claim to be a fanboy yet, if this is what we can expect from Kiss Land, then I might just be on board.
