Why do we like this?
I'm usually not much a fan of post-punk/punk rock fan, but I realize music is not only about genre, or how complicated the time signature is, or what notes are played. It's also about where the band comes from, how they came about, in what situation; it adds something to the music. Usually. I recently read the entire Wikipedia page on The Beatles, and it's pretty huge, but as I read it, the songs that I had heard in only a musical sense before suddenly became multi-faceted. That's certainly one way to spend a lazy afternoon.
A few weeks back, I came across an article about an all-girl rock band from New Delhi called The Vinyl Records. They're a quartet of young girls from the northeast coast of India. I was really impressed by what I read and heard, especially because bands from that region have always been numerous and talented, but I didn't often see too many of them venture out into the rest of India. I think the liveliness and energy of their music was what got me, and the fact that all four of them sing!
