With their 2008 hits "That's Not My Name" and "Shut Up and Let Me Go" British duo The Ting Tings created catchy, instantly gratifying pop songs that started in the UK and slowly stormed the US with the help of cosigns from people like Kanye West. It was the kind of music destined to act as a soundtrack to reality TV shows, tween movie party scenes, and sub par commercials. It wasn't bad, but it was so urgently immediate.
It didn't seem that The Ting Tings could get any more pop, but now we have "Hands", a new song from the upcoming Massage Kunst. They've kept the simplistic, repetitive formula, dropped the guitars and any hints of real instruments and hired Calvin Harris to take over on the production for some straight up electro pop. - Pigeons and Planes
