Why do we like this?
Alright, the new, slick music video got to me from the start. And the cool band name. And the sweet track title. Then the wicked awesome beats got me absolutely addicted. Come on now, admit you're already in love; this song was great within the first six seconds. You don't need to hear anything else -- I know you'll want their new album coming out this spring.
It's been almost a year since we covered The Suicide of Western Culture's "From Our Apartment's Window." Fellow shuffler (and the all-around-awesome) Rachel perfectly summed it up as "organized, mechanical, musical chaos." Yeah. This time, they turn chaos into control.
I'm stunned they didn't get more likes back then. A well-written review and a great track always deserves attention. Maybe it was the reference to the fact that they sounded like a funeral march? All I know is that I'd run to my death if this was playing in the afterlife! Or maybe it was cause they were so secretive? Well, not anymore. Their eponymous first album was a winner - named "best Spanish electronic music album" by the public and critics alike. Toy keyboards, drum machines, tons of pedals and sci-fi getups should be more than enough to woo listeners over these days. I hope you'll agree this time.
Since our review back in February 2012, they've been touring all over the world, supporting major artists like Animal Collective. This track, off their newest album Hope Only Brings Pain is what the press is calling "the next big step" in their young career. It's an epic album, with lo-fi beats and a sci-fi feel to accompany the great titles. But it isn't coming out till March. What a teaser.
Start running to your metaphorical death by liking them on Facebook. And don't forget to catch out that excellent music video I mentioned.
