Strowlini Orchestra is a New Zealand-based project, spearheaded by Pat Stewart.
The first taste of their upcoming The Strowl EP is beautiful single "Tinglin'" which features UK born, Wellington NZ-based vocalist EDIE.
The song "was written around the time the UK and NZ were debating refugee quotas for those displaced from Syria," says Pat, who is also the mastermind behind super-group Brockaflower, whose track "Conversations" I shared on the site last year.
Revolving around themes regarding humanity and what that means, the track is a poignant creation which mixes electronic production and orchestral instruments, all moving under Edie's ethereal, soulful vocal. Syncopated melodies and rhythms create a rich tapestry of glorious sound, which can be likened most easily to Bonobo's unique brand of composition. I'm a fan!
