Why do we like this?
The Strokes soiree into new wave meets Lupe Fiasco's "The Show Goes On." At first this mash up may sound a little forced: "Machu Picchu" (the opening track on Angles) comes out of the gate a slow compared to Lupe, but once you get into it, this is really a great pairing of two artists from different ends of the spectrum.
Mixed by Dallas' own LehtMoJoe, with an opening that invokes the attacks of September 11th, 2001 and ends with a sample of Barack Obama promising to end secrecy. In doing so, the track pairs Fiasco's politically charged lyrics to Julian Casablanca's apathetic drawl in what seems to be an attempt to represent the past decade.
If you're in the midst of a big Strokes or Lupe Fiasco phase on the heels of their new albums, this track is for you. Those of you who may prefer Radiohead, as a bonus, Lupe's take on "The National Anthem," off his Enemy Of The State: A Love Story mixtape.
