"All I Hear" finds Manchester's The Slow Readers Club on firm footing, having spent the past two years touring frequently sold out shows in support of their third LP, Build A Tower, their first to reach the UK top 20.
They'll surely be hoping for similar success this time round, and here on their latest track, they hit the ground running from the start with a familiarly frantic guitar line leading the way. As ever, they wear their post-punk/new-wave influences heavily on their sleeve, but play with such passion and urgency that it makes the material work on their own terms. Lead singer, Aaron Starkie, uses his signature flip between deep Ian Curtis-esque drawl and high pitched falsetto to very effective use here.
A perfect introduction to new fans and a worthy addition to the back catalogue for those that have been with them for years. Their much anticipated fourth studio album, The Joy Of The Return, drops on March 20th via Modern Sky, followed by an extensive UK and European tour.
