Every time I hear a new song from The Rural Alberta Advantage I tend to wax lyrical about "that one time I first heard them on a road trip."
Well, I'll save you all of that and just go so far as to say that for an indie rock band, I'm pretty into these guys. So much so that I've gone ahead and selected their new single "On The Rocks" as today's Song of the Day.
It's an emotional, slow-burning track that wonderfully captures the distinct (somewhat nasal) vocals of lead singer Nils Edenloff. Coupled with the lo-fi sounds of Amy Cole's keyboard and the muted percussion by Paul Banwatt -- well, you wind up with a track that an unfamiliar listener might compare to The National meets The Strokes.
"On The Rocks" will be available September 30th on the album Mended With Gold, via Saddle Creek / Paper Bag Records. Pre-order it here.
