Why do we like this?
Oliver Nelson has established himself as one of this year's better / more prolific remixers, tackling the likes of Justin Timberlake, Janelle Monáe and a whole lot more. Given that many of the subjects of his prior work have a more mainstream tinge, it was a pleasant surprise to be given the opportunity to premiere his remix of Indie Shuffle favorites, The Royal Concept.
The original version of "On Our Way" was released with success back in June of this year, an upbeat and infectious single that found itself quickly stuck in my head. With this remix, Oliver Nelson has kept a lot of the original catchiness, while layering in groovy disco beats and some slick synth solo work.
The net result is one of the more fun remixes we've heard in some time!
PS. The Royal Concept are gearing up for a new album release on September 11th (in Sweden), so there's a good chance we'll be featuring them again shortly.
