Melbourne trio
The Red Lights (the three Ds: Dean Valentino, Dave Liistro and Davin Johnston) have developed into one of the most underrated indie pop bands in Australia. Since getting together in 2010, they've supported the likes of The Rubens and Hunting Grounds, and they've also released a debut EP,
Not in this Town (which you can stream in full
here).
Now they've returned with a brand new single. "Chaperone" is a taste of what to expect from the upcoming release of their second EP. Their sound could be described as a mix of classic Brit pop with an Aussie twist -- including that fun sing-a-long vibe, bound to draw a smile when the chorus kicks in. It's got all the elements a good pop track should include, and above all, it's ridiculously catchy. I'm sure you'll all agree.
Clearly more to come from the three Ds, including a number of performances locally to drum up more hype for the upcoming EP release.
