The C90s describe themselves as "two buddies making music," which I'm sure in fact is true as well as kinda adorable. If I was going to make up a tagline for them, however, it'd be "two buddies throwing down fat mix after mix with a few spectacular remixes in between." Long, perhaps, but the essence of truth.
Every month since August, they've been releasing some serious dance mixes, and have been busy on the remix front as well. Already hitting the likes of Trujillo, Flight Facilities, and Clubfeet, one of their most recent remixes is a toe-tapping rendition of The Penelopes' "Now Now Now."
Mostly highlighting the female vocals, the remix starts off with a funky, beat-driven bass line. Lyrically, I find the song a little on the depressing side, as they lament of the days of youth passing, time "tick-ticking" away, and yesterday being gone forever. As a person in their late 20s, these are all topics that I'm trying desperately to avoid thinking about! That being said, the melody of the song lifts up the lyrics rendering a track perfect for a night out... maybe even with a fist pump or two.
The original track was just released last month and can be found
