Why do we like this?

Los Angeles based band The Palms released a new Cali-vibe song earlier this month. Their genre-bending sound fuses influences of hip-hop beats with reggae and catchy indie pop.

“This Bitch” throws stones at spoiled kids and the things this sort of “rich kid” culture perpetuates. These shady lyrics are clever and surprising, and make for a perfectly moody track. The Palms ride on that Cali-wave, but the overcast and grey side of that wave. And who doesn’t love a song with a splash of profanity right in the irresistible hook?

The band includes Johnny Zambetti and Ben Rothbard of indie band, Terraplane Sun. The Palms have released a few singles this year and a few of my other favorites include “Levitate” and “All4you.”
