Since arriving on my radar this time last year, Melbourne's The Ocean Party have never failed to impress me -- their gritty slacker-pop always hits the mark. Their album Split was on the shortlist for my favorite releases of 2013, and thankfully the guys have wasted no time in recording its follow-up.
"Wading In" is the first glimpse of their new record, and again, the guys have stepped things up a notch. Wanting to create something more substantial with their next release, this track indicates they've done just that. A fuller, more mature sound is found here -- one which will find its way under your skin no matter your mood.
The Ocean Party operates using a shared songwriting formula, making their continued success even more impressive. The band's new album will be out in the not-to-distant future -- expect more excellent results.
