Why do we like this?

Next month, we'll get the release of Gemini, the third album from The New Division (alias of the electronic artist John Glenn Kunkel). But before then, we bring you the first single from the album, "Copycat."

Continuing The New Division's infectious merging of 80s synth-pop with current electronic trends, "Copycat" is a joyous romp though uplifting, melodic indie-electronica.

To me, The New Division is what it would sound like if members of Depeche Mode and New Order decided to join forces and create a supergroup. There are moody synths, driving percussion, and hints 80s post-punk, with Kunkel's refreshing vocals topping things off. The most impressive thing is Kunkel's ability to take his influences and turn them into something original and fresh, as is the case with "Copycat."

Gemini is set for release June 23.
