Ladies and gentlemen, The National have returned, and oh, sweet lord, have they returned in style.
The Ohio four-piece have been relatively quiet since 2013's Trouble Will Find Me, but we don't have much longer to wait: they've just announced their seventh studio album, Sleep Well Beast, set for release on September 8.
The news has come along with a beautiful new single, "The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness," along with a drone-shot video directed by Casey Reas.
Sleep Well Beast was recorded at guitarist and keyboardist Aaron Dessner’s New York studio. Dessner also produced the album, which was co-produced by frontman Matt Berninger and guitarist (and brother) Bryce Dessner.
