I'm beginning to think it's near impossible for The National to make bad music. Even on a slow burner like this one, the guitar work coupled with Matt Berninger's beautifully distraught sounding voice matches perfectly with the lyrics -- it's just so good.
Their new album Sleep Well Beast is set for release in September, and so far, they've released two singles from it: "The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness" and now "Guilty Party."
"Guilty Party" comes with a tender music video directed by Casey Reas. In it, there are close, intimate shots of faces with closed eyes that turn slowly into one another and some more drone footage like that of "The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness."
The National have also announced a world tour, starting in September and ending in December of this year. Every ticket sold for the North American leg comes with a digital copy of the album, following its release. For now, you can purchase "Guilty Party" here.
