I can safely assume that The Naked and Famous has shared the last teaser off their upcoming studio album Simple Forms. The band’s third album is due out in mere days, on October 14.
“The Runners” is the third puzzle piece in a cohesive color story that continues to unfold before fans. With less shimmy than “Higher” and fewer synths then “Laid Low,” this new song feels both smaller and more defeated than the previous singles.
“My ears are ringing to these / summers not quite defined / A heart no home can hold / A hole we left behind.” Lead singer Alisa Xayalith’s words are spoken as a lullaby goodbye.
Each blue and red drenched video leading up to Simple Forms helps tell a bigger story. These strange montages of cracked doors and porcelain moments -- kneecaps and knives -- continue to prop up flickering warnings. What are you trying to tell our broken hearts? We want more.
More will be here soon.
