Sydney band The Mountains have had a busy year thus far. Aside from releasing their debut EP Country Doors (which featured the single "Sun"), they have played almost 100 shows, supports and headlines. Rather than taking time off after from this hectic schedule, they recently spent some time on Australia's North-East coast, recording their sophomore EP with noted product Mark Myers (The Middle East, Emma Louise).
Before moving on from Country Doors, the band have released a new single from that record. "1984" discusses themes from George Orwell's classic novel of the same name, but the styles of the two couldn't be more different. While the book is pretty grim, the guys have taken a sunnier approach, full of drifting guitar and dreamy vocals.
Again, The Mountains have you sorted for another addition for your lazy summer playlist. Keep an eye out for more washed-out surf pop from these lads in the coming months.
