I discovered The Montreals on Indie Shuffle a couple of years ago when they came out with their 2017 single "deadheads." Funny enough, if you read The Montreals' About section on Spotify, it has a direct quote from the Indie Shuffle review on "deadhead."
Since then, I have followed their music periodically. I noticed that every song they released had a unique vibe, and this Australian group's sound spans across several genres.
Their latest single, "RUDE," follows the pattern of constant re-invention by The Montreals. This track sounds like familiar Australian, upbeat indie-pop, but possessing a shift towards the currently popular bedroom-pop vibe. It also makes me feel nostalgic because it reminds me of 2010 indie-pop (arguably the best period of indie-pop).
I have been listening to this colorful song on repeat and I wish I could be involved with the Australian music scene because it makes me so happy.
