The Mispers are the best kind of band, one thatavoids stereotype or genre-stamping due to their capacity to be as flipped sonically as a modern American politician. However, their exceptionalism isn't self-created, bloated, or bullshit. It starts with their ability to appear as one thing, but blow your lid off when the song starts.
Deemed by the Guardian as an "alt-rock quintet," the five-piece may from the outside seem as any other collection of five musicians dreaming big and working hard. Nevertheless, the Mispers boast an ear and pen that is eclectic, well-traveled, and highly observational.
Take, for instance, "Rio," the second single off of their upcoming EP Dark Bits, out July 27 on B-Unique Records. The track is explosive merging the best of pop, rock, punk, and electronic tones to create one hell of a song. Check it out.
