JackLNDN's refix of The Kite String Tangle demonstrates how to reflect the current wave of indie dance and nu disco without keeping his feet firmly planted in the past.
Unlike a lot of nu disco producers at the moment, JackLNDN continues to push forward without staying in a cyclical direction. His productions continue to feel modern, his choices feel specific without cloying, and he refuses to let nostalgic memories of where indie dance used to be dictate his creative vision. His work on "The Prize" is a refreshing counter to the sameness in indie dance at the moment: synths are bubbly and warm, but not overly saccharine; vocals are a focal point, but not to the point of typical pop song structure; and there's enough atmosphere in the background to cut through the idea that this is simplistic sound design drivel.
It's almost Disclosure level neatness and, coincidentally, despite JackLNDN's insistence to move on, it still reminds us of a time when nudisco was actually fun to listen to.
