If you feel like a bit of good ol' dirty rock today, have I got a treat for you. Sydney-based five-piece The Jones Rival have been around for a few years, honing a upbeat rock sound which could easily be from a bygone era.
With a couple of tracks in the bag already, they've just released their strongest to date, the barnstorming "Jumpin' Frog." The band reference the Rolling Stones as an influence, and you could almost picture Mick Jagger fronting them, given the swagger levels they produce on this single. Plenty of heavy guitar riffs and driving percussion are finished off with powerful, howling vocals -- it's nothing new, but these guys do it really well.
The Jones Rival are currently finishing up their debut EP, which is due out in the second half of the year.
