Why do we like this?
There's something truly charming about the music of The Harry Heart Chrysalis, the project of singer/songwriter Harry Heart. The 20-year-old UK-born, Australia-raised artist recently relocated from Brisbane to Sydney to concentrate on his solo career (he's been a member of a number of local acts) after releasing his debut EP in 2012. Now settled in his new surroundings, he's in the last stages of readying a second, with his latest single to be launched next week.
Already available online, "You Are Not A Rarity" is an upbeat, catchy pop song that grows on you each time you press play. It's one of those songs that will initially give you a warm, sunny feeling until you work out the lyrics are describing a romance gone wrong. A simple, acoustically driven ditty to begin, the track really builds as Heart's bubbly vocals are joined with expanding production and finger-picked guitar.
The Harry Heart Chrysalis' second EP, Bodensee and Other False Stories, is due out on February 20.
