Once I was out with this couple in Kentucky. We'd all had the same sort of late night the evening before. Of the four of us, the levels of hangover were all a little different, but this couple looked pretty fresh, considering. When asked if they'd had time to shower before breakfast their reply was, "Nah man, we just fell out the duffle bag."
If there was a sound for said phrase, The Growlers would be it — perpetually just falling out of the duffle bag; music to wake up to; bed-head for the ears.
Their latest single "Big Toe" is no different. It's still got the SoCal, so-gonna-take-my-time-with-this approach to psychedelia. But where the edge of their previous material started and stopped in the fuzz of the guitars, "Big Toe" extends a mean tongue to the lyrical content. Phrases such as, "She's a cold bitch, she's turning me silver" sets the mood for this tale about a love which turned out to be far from lovely.
"Big Toe" is the first track from the forthcoming album Chinese Fountain and will be out September 23 via Everloving Records. Enjoy!
