The Goods is an upcoming electronic duo out of Sydney, Australia. They're the most recent signees to local label Personal Best, a new label who has really caught my attention with their funky, genre-bending releases from artists by Tear Council, MHLND, and more.
"Strong Man" is a really interesting track, which characteristically traverses a myriad styles, from funk to soul to R&B, united by synths and a big, stompy beat.
The embellishments are what take this track to the next level; the subtle but punchy beats that add a little crunch, the cosmic synths blended with distorted guitar, the gospel-esque vocal layer -- almost used more as an instrument in itself than a top line.
While the track doesn't feel like it has a beginning, middle, or end, there's dynamic progression that gives it a cool flow; you could easily listen to it on repeat.
Keep an eye out for a debut LP in March 2016 via Personal Best.
