Sounds like:
Peter Gabriel,
U2,
The Feeling
Why do we like this?
What makes a man a gentleman? Is it how a man dresses, how he treats a woman, or simply how he carries himself? Gentleman is definitely one of those terms that gets thrown around with little thought of its meaning, especially in a day and age where we're not very focused on substance. The Gentlemen are looking to change that.
Coming off their third release titled Departures, The Gentlemen are a four-piece indie pop band from Sheffield, England marrying silky smooth vocals and an 80s aesthetic with synthesizers and guitars. The last track off of Departures is the perfect introduction to their own blend sounds.
The track is called "This is Where," and it's a slow building jam kicking off with a simple synth and the soulful, impassioned vocals of Nicholas Noble. As the layers of guitar, bass, and drum are added, the song's beauty really unfolds, bringing to memory the likes of Peter Gabriel and U2. But what's really special about "This Is Where" is the chorus, making the world seem to stop as all the elements come together for a moment of pop songwriting perfection.
This is definitely a band fit to be called The Gentlemen. You can check them out on tour in the UK this upcoming month in support of The Feeling, probably dressed as gentlemen.
