Gathering up a head of steam in their native Ireland, The Eskies have been churning out their unique sound for a number of years now and have just released their latest album And Don't Spare the Horses. Brimming with horns, accordions and rollicking folk melodies, it's a wonderfully convoluted mix of traditional Irish folk, gypsy jazz and swaggering waltz that brings to mind rum inebriated pirates bellowing out sea shanties in a crowded tavern.
'All Good Men' is representative of their sound, fabled tales told through the sheer energy of tumbling guitars and infectiously catchy choruses. Best described by local reviewer James Fenney from Belwood Music as, "sounding like it was concocted during a recording session between The Decemberists and a bunch of Disney villains, and fuelled by copious amounts of alcohol," it's all just positively joyous, a hell of a good time and held up by some tremendous musicianship and songwriting.
