"Whenever," the new track from Bournemouth-based quintet The Death of Pop, is a masterful slice of hazy shoegaze that's sure to lodge itself in your head after just one listen. Taken from their forthcoming EP, Fifths, the new single contains one of the most infectious hooks I've heard in recent times -- but there is so much more to this tune than an infectious little melody.
As the song progresses, it shifts between moody mid-sections of muted, echoed vocals and dreamy peaks of indie pop perfection, complete with jangly guitar rhythms and an infinitely memorable vocal melody.
Upcoming EP, Fifths, is to be released on limited edition blue flexidisc on July 28, and can be pre-ordered here. Make sure you get your hands on this collection of summery indie pop gems!
