Adam Pickering and Paula Walker are a pretty accomplished pair: solo, he's supported the likes of Sam Sparro and The Wombats; she is a professionally trained dancer. In 2010, they joined forces to form a Leicestershire-based rootsy folk-pop project and record their acclaimed debut
Overgrown. Flash forward three years, and today we've scored the premiere to their latest offering.
Having already released the foot-stomping "Found," the lead single to their new EP of the same name (due out November 11), the twosome have been busy experimenting with inspired re-imaginings of their own work.
Cue the electric "Soundwaves of Gold (Remix)". From the rich string layers of the opening bars to the driving cymbal crashes, synth strokes and softly sung vocals, this track showcases the duo's trademark acoustic girl/boy harmonies in a different light. Departing from the rustic, French-tinged original, this reinvention blends traditional, gypsy-esque elements and electronic vibes in a colourful combination.
With support from the likes of BBC6 and Burberry, and now with a series of UK shows under their belts, culminating in an EP Launch Party at The Donkey in Leicester tomorrow (November 7), the future for The Daydream Club looks bright!
