Americana rock band The Congress is releasing their sophomore album, The Game, on September 9 via American Paradox.
Established in Denver, they became immersed in the jam scene before finally migrating back to Richmond. But unlike other bands that mesh country, nostalgia and old school rock n roll, The Congress don't sound put on. They are not your average suburban byproduct, which sets them entirely apart from many of their peers (*shots fired*).
"Home Again" -- their first single off The Game -- typifies this band's refreshing, and somewhat-melancholy, output
"Do I have your heart?" croons singer Scott Lane, with unmistakable vulnerability. Lane's got a quivering voice, like his soul's clasped in the tops of his throat. This band is on the verge of major success... and hopefully avoids the pitfalls of [redacted], bands that end up plugging their music in car commercials.
The Congress is currently on the road all summer and fall after tours supporting Lake Street Dive, the Tedeschi-Trucks Band, and Hard Working Americans.
