The Best Party Ever from UK natives The Boy Least Likely To (Pete Hobbs and Jof Owen) is by no means a new album. I've been listening to it on and off for the past five years, reserving it for moments when I'm desperate for some pure indie pop goodness.
On tracks like "Be Gentle With Me,"
"I'm Glad I Hitched My Apple Wagon To Your Star," "Monsters," and "I See Spiders When I Close My Eyes," the duo uses a playful combination of banjos, acoustic guitars, fiddles, and glockenspiels to create a heartwarming album that narrates how terrifying and wonderful childhood can be. The Best Party Ever manages to be uplifting without being cheesy; it's the kind of music that you can't help but tap your foot to.
The Boy Least Likely To has been creating music since 2003, releasing their most recent album Law of the Playground in 2009, although to a little less fanfare than The Best Party Ever.
