The Bilinda Butchers (a homage to Bilinda Butcher of My Bloody Valentine) are one of a few young bands nailing that dreamy shoegaze-y pop of the '80s. True to their namesake, the San Francisco based trio make fuzzy, distorted rock tunes with gliding guitar riffs and dreamy vocals.
“Girlfriend” is their most recent single, released ahead of a slew of live dates in Asia, along with a dreamy, rose-tinted lyric video featuring lyrics in English, Japanese, and Chinese. A distinct vocal melody, and layers of hazy soaring guitars, build up a foggy wall of sound. A perfectly muddled cloud of contemplative yearning about love, loss, and the blur of feelings inbetween.
Vague messages on their social media pages say “the bbz night and blur coming soon,” but only time will tell when that will be. In the meantime, let this new song soundtrack your daydreams about a new album from The Bilinda Butchers.
