Why do we like this?
Nicolas Jaar's simple remix of The Bees' "Winter Rose" is sitting pretty atop Soundcloud's popular list, a gem amongst an abundance of dubstep mind-melts. The original track was released on The Bees' latest album, Every Step's A Yes, and I am fairly confident that this stripped-down remix captures and/or maintains the "real life" vibe that the Isle of Wight sextet were aiming for.
Nicolas Jaar was born in New York, and after a brief stopover in Santiago, he re-established himself as an organic electronic musician in the city of his birth. His debut release came at 17, and by 18 he was playing clubs around the world. Now, as a student at Brown, Nico continues to produce remarkable work, and has upcoming releases on Circus Company, Wolf + Lamb and on his own label, Clown and Sunset.
