The American Dollar is a post-rock duo from Queens, NY, composed of friends/collaborators John Emanuele and Richard Cupolo. They been making experimental music together since 2005, which means they have been throwing down solid tunes for something like seven years now. This longstanding cohesion is evident in the polished beauty of the duo's latest release, Awake in the City.
"Faces in the Haze" serves as the album's cinematic intro, taking flight within seconds on the wings of spacey keyboards and guitar riffs. There seems to be a deep passion swelling beneath the track's initial composure. The American Dollar produced the heck out of "Faces in the Haze" and I assure you it serves as merely one example of the deep, soaring sound present throughout Awake in the City.
Many thanks to Connecticutter and Nathan Wong for helping me find and post this song.
