Why do we like this?

The Academic is a 4-piece alt-rock band hailing from Ireland. Their breakout single "Mixtape 2003" is a nostalgic and rollicking look into the past. The artist paints a picture of youth complete with skinny jeans, cigarettes, an an appropriate bit of angst. Hits pretty close to home. 

Driven by energetic guitars and bare vocals, it's got an unapologetic and exuberant feel to it. The carefree chorus emphasizes the message behind it, bursting with an irresistible hook.
