Why do we like this?
Alright folks, I was feeling experimental today and some of these songs on this album are really hitting the spot. For an album that can be summed up as "weird" and "delightfully confusing," it's also incredible how many upbeat-feel-good-don't-take-it-too-seriously lyrics have been jam-packed into this release. I guess even the album title gives it away: there's a whole lot of enthusiasm in these 10 songs.
My favorite song on the album is, "Iotdwykirthbr". Did you get that? That's kind of the feeling through most of the album. You walk away not sure how seriously to take the music, but let's just toss out the concept art debate about music, sometimes it can just be FUN, leaving you reeling in positivity, ready to blast some tunes, prancing around in some odd form of fist-pumping-jig.
With lyrics likes those on "Ride Friendship," I'm left thinking about blissful hopeful possibility. The four-minute song has four lines of lyrics, letting the electro pop really take over.
I'll let you decide for yourself if the album can be considered new genius. No matter what, be ready for some new music, new songs to add to those summer playlists. The album is out in hard copy this week on David Byrne's Luaka Bop label.
Apparently their live show is what you really want to catch (pillow fights?!) -- having missed their last show in DC, I'll keep playing the singles for now, and wait for the next epic dance party to hit the district.

You make my heart explode!
And it soars through the air! And lands on your shoulders! I will be a part of you will you please be a part of me? I need you.
You make my heart explode.
We're alive! We're in love! We've got hope just because!
