There are two reasons I love encountering awesome covers like this: 1) well, it's awesome; 2) I get exposure to an original song that I wasn't familiar with. In this case, Télépopmusik's "Breathe" (video below). At this point I'm not actually sure which is better...but I'll get to talking about the new rendition.
New Navy are a band out of Sydney who had a bit of a smash with their debut album Uluwatu. We were big fans, to say the very least.
When tackling this song, they removed much of the electronic ambiance, favoring instead their upbeat and clean indie pop sound. The net result -- as noted above -- is awesome. And, to top it all off, there's a free download provided by Future Classic on Soundcloud.
Basically, this is a win-win situation all around.
