Here's something a bit different for your week's listening. "Kala Kala" is the latest from Montreal-based genre-benders, TEKE::TEKE.
An indie rock meets surf-pop explosion you'd expect to hear on the soundtrack of a Quentin Tarantino flick, "Kala Kala" is a head-scratching rocker that somehow works.
Taken from the seven-piece extravaganza's forthcoming, debut album, "Kala Kala" incorporates guitar, bass, drums, flute, trombone, synths and Maya Kuroki's distinctive howl during four minutes of absolute good times.
While it won't be to everyone's taste, TEKE::TEKE at least offers something different with "Kala Kala," and has won me over with this frantic original composition.
