Sister girl groups did not start with Haim. More importantly, they don't all sound the same.
Carpark just posted "Big Talk," a delightful, "reverb drenched" ballad (their words, not mine) from another trio of sisters, this time from Brooklyn. TEEN presents a nuanced, vintage kind of music that still feels totally in place with the current landscape. The sound melds the synthy, sexy effects of Class Actress (that intro!) with some absolutely Cocteau Twins-inspired vocals. The result is a very complex song that doesn't let you get too comfortable.
This track was recorded as part of an earlier EP titled Carolina Days, but didn't make the first compilation. I'm just diving in, but I wanted to loop you all in for the plunge, so press play and hold your breath.
Don't listen to TEEN's apologies, this track lives up to my big talk.
